The DC Sentencing Commission’s latest Issue Paper focusing on “Mandatory Minimum Sentencing in the District of Columbia.” This Issue Paper will examine mandatory minimums used in the District and how they supersede the Guidelines’ recommended sentences and constrain judges’ discretion. The Commission goal is to increase awareness among the public, of the impact on the District’s sentencing practices and understanding of the Guidelines.
